Platinum Coming to Super Duty

The image of a pickup as a cold, utilitarian workhorse is long gone. Nowadays, creature comforts and amenities, not to mention a smooth ride and loads of power under the hood, have moved the pickup far from strict practicality. And even better, the 2013 Ford Super Duty® has entered the world of practical luxury.

If you are familiar with the F-150 Platinum (which has been around since 2009), then you probably expect the first-ever Super Duty Platinum to also be about the high end of things. Available in the Super Duty Crew Cab, the configuration can be ordered on an…

Ford Unveils 'New' 1965 Mustang

It's now possible to build a brand new '64½, '65 or '66 Ford Mustang convertible from the wheels up using this latest Ford-approved and officially licensed body shell.

Unveiled today ahead of its public debut at next week's 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, the new body shell joins previous 'restoration parts' versions for the 1967-68 and the 1969-70 fastback Mustang bodies.

The standard design is for the '65 Mustang convertible but the original '64½ as well as the later '66 can be built depending on which powertrain and trim parts are added to…

Ford Focus EcoBoost heads to Europe

What's so great about a 1.0-liter engine like that found in Ford Focus? According to the auto maker, it can produce the same power as a non-turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder powerplant. Impressive! Overseas, European fans are awaiting for their chance to test drive a Focus.

Ford Focus with Ecoboost technology is currently available at Future Ford of Concord in Concord, CA but this is the first time it will make an appearance in Europe. The auto maker confirmed Focus will be on dealer lots, but also able to be ordered online via Ford's European site.Ford also…

Color Can Keep You Alert, Make You Feel Good

With the right lighting, everything else falls into place.

The interior lighting in the all-new Ford Fusion proves that out; it moves beyond simple functionality. Ford researchers realize that a person's attention span is limited, and lighting can play a key role in providing a driver with critical and noncritical driving-related information without diverting attention.
Lighting in a vehicle is about space and dimension, said Mahendra Dassanayake, Ford technical leader for Design, but there's more to it.
"Lighting gives you a sense of orientation," said Dassanayake. "It's a unique combination of functionality and comfort. Lights, graphics and…

Chevy-Ford Rivalry Heats Up in Nascar

Motor racing is unique among sports, thanks to its ties to big industry. Nobody ever went to a football game to cheer on a brand of football. Nobody ever dreamed of driving a hockey puck. At a car race, consumer brands are the center of the action. And there are no brands more synonymous with America than Ford and Chevrolet.

As Nascar heads into Sunday's Daytona 500, its kickoff extravaganza, fans, team owners, and racing executives are hyping a return of the big-time manufacturer rivalry for the first time in years-Ford versus Chevy, a rivalry older than Nascar itself…

Ford Focus Titanium to get Manual Transmission

Ford Motor says it's getting enough comments from dealers and customers and even auto writers (but who takes them seriously, after all) that it has just begun offering a manual transmission in the high-end version of the Focus, called Titanium.

Dealers can order the manual now, but probably won't have much of an inventory until mid-March.

Price is the same as for the dry-clutch automatic standard in the Titanium: $22,995 (including shipping) and up. Usually automakers charge $800 to $1,200 less for a manual.  Learn more...
